For under four dollars, a passenger could quickly travel to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and forgo the uncomfortable eight hour stagecoach ride of days gone by. And this was as early as 1900! The Santa Fe railroad generated a significant income from the tourism industry, and it should be noted that as a result they invested significantly in the development of the south rim area surrounding the canyon. After all, nothing would draw tourists and prompt their repeat business more than a strong development of tourist attractions! The railroad is still there today and it is still a very enjoyable trip, leading to one of the most beautiful sites in the country.
