Iowa is named after the river ‘Iowa’, meaning ‘beautiful land’ or ‘one who puts to sleep’. It is also termed as ‘Hawkeye State’, named after a leader of Indian tribe ‘Chief Black Hawk’. Iowa is a beautiful land located between Missouri and Mississippi river. The river valleys, wooded hills and plains add to the state’s landscape. Iowa is a leading producer of oats, corns, cattle, milk, calves and soybeans. The production of corn are so high that it is called as ‘the land where tall corn grows’ and ‘Corn state’. It even plays a key role in feeding the country as Iowa produces huge amount of country’s food supply. Besides that Iowa has seen great industrial growth.
