Tips: Understanding the Shipping of
your automobile
Door To Door Transportation: What
does it Means to you
Door to Door what we do, it doesn't mean all the time that the
trucks will be able to pull up to your front door. The Driver will get as
close to your door for pick-up or delivery as he/she can legally and
safely get. Bigger towns and cities sometimes restricts larger Car
trucks depending on the weight of the car carrier from entering into some
residential areas.
Auto Transport trucks can be up over seventy five
feet long, and drivers will need room to maneuver.
We transport vehicles for individuals,
car companies, dealer and auto
auctions, private companies and government Military agencies alike.
Selecting moving Method : Open or
Enclosed for classic cars
Carriers that are open are partially exposed to
the elements, and can range from small three car carriers to the large twelve
car carriers that you often see on the open Interstate.
Enclosed trailers are
protected from the elements, and your vehicle is for lack of better terms
shipped in a mobile vehicle garage. Your vehicle enclosed is typically
more expensive that having it shipped on an open trailer. Most autos can
be shipped on an open trailer or in an enclosed trailer.
Delivery, be ready for your
payment methods
While most services may not require payment in advance, other
shippers requires a deposit prior. If a deposit is
required, the balance is always due at time of delivery. you
will need to have certified funds ready when the truck arrives. it
is not common but some companies may allow you to pay with a credit card
upon delivery.
Are you
Properly Insured?
The automobile will be fully insured if damaged while on the truck and/or theft
occurs by your transportation company. Be sure your moving requests
a copy of the company's insurance coverage before you completing. With us you are one hundred percent covered. All things pertaining
to your shipment will be in writing. Your personal car insurance policy
will not cover personal items in your vehicle in transit; we
recommend you contact your automobile insurance company to verify this
coverage. it is recommend that you remove personal items from
prior to it being shipped.
Realistic Expectations of your
Scheduling for your transport delivery
An important issue for people to be aware of.
Understanding the process of shipping is not like UPS, Postal Service
or even the Fed-Ex. Pick-up and deliveries for Auto
Transportation dates are estimates only and can not be
guarantees for pick-up or delivery times. Unexpected moving
mishaps may occur from mechanical problems to traffic, weather all contribute to
vehicle delays. However,, most delays are mostly caused by their own
customers. Customers that often fail to show up on there scheduled
date/time, or the changing of pick-up or drop off locations for the
SHIPPERS locations at the last minute etc. Some patience and pre planning is
required, and our company wants you to receive your vehicle as
soon as possible. Be sure to have and open schedule
Auto Transport
Before Pick-up
Clean your car even if it will be
shipped on an open trailer. You will be able to more accurately note on the
pickup condition report inspections sheet.
Remove personal items. Car
Carrier companies are not licensed for house hold goods, and thus cannot legally
insure any personal items in vehicles they transport.
Shut off the alarm.
Try to not top
off your gas tank, keep it low, this saves quite a bit of weight .
Secure
any loose parts or specialty items from your such as ground effects, fog
lights spoilers,. fold back wide mirrors and retract the antennae if possible.
Ship convertibles with tops secured.
Holes are the be Seal to prevent moisture from causing inside
damage.
Do a Thorough Vehicle pre
Inspection: Document Its Condition prior to the arrival of the truck
vehicle damage is rare and can occur Go as far as taking pictures (and
dating them) of the vehicle prior to it's shipping
if the vehicle has
any leaks let the drive know.
List all operational problems if any or
steps necessary to start, stop, or drive your vehicle safely on and off of
the trailer.

Be On Time Meeting The Truck:
Not meeting the truck onetime can delay delivery for not only your vehicle, but
also all of the other customers whose cars are sitting on the trailer.
Doing the
Paperwork Releasing Your Car
When leaving your car with the shipping company, you'll receive an original
transportation inspection report. The report will have listed
pick-up and delivery information, as well as any pre-existing scratches
and dents.
Delivery of your Vehicle
At delivery, inspect your vehicle
compare the condition and mileage against the "Original Inspection Report"
provided from your car transport company at origination If there are
inconsistencies, note them as exceptions and be sure the driver signs it. ONLY
ACCEPT YOUR VEHICLE AT NIGHT IF YOU CAN VERIFY ITS CONDITION ?
